Victoria, Chaska, Waconia and Excelsior fire departments responded to a house fire at 8818 Ridge Ponds Drive in Victoria June 5.
A lightning strike apparently caused the fire, according to neighbor John Hetzler, who took the accompanying photograph.
The lightning strike occurred between 3:45 and 4 p.m., and this photo was taken at 5:20, Hetzler said.

New fire department officers were approved by the city council Monday night. Tim Weibe was named new fire chief following the resignation of Chief James Van Eyll who left to take a full time fire chief position for the City of Long Lake.
Blair Malmgren was named first captain/training officer and Jeff Lenzen was named third lieutenant.

The 26-year-old man who was rescued from a burning apartment in Shakopee early Monday morning has died.
Arthur Hussey was spending the night at his girlfriend’s place when the apartment caught fire around 2 a.m. The Minneapolis man was carried from the building by emergency personnel and airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died at 6:24 a.m. Tuesday.

In addition to approving a 3.5 percent pay increase for Chaska’s volunteer firefighters, the council approved the department’s 2007 officer election results Monday night.
Two mobile homes in Brandondale were destroyed by fire Wednesday night. According to a press release, Chaska Police and Chaska Fire responded to the fire call at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday.
A structure fire in Dahlgren Township resulted in a total loss at the Dahlgren Township Meeting Hall Saturday morning.
According to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office, the fire was called in at 4 a.m. The sheriff responded along with the Cologne, Waconia, Carver, Chaska and Shakopee fire departments and Ridgeview Ambulance.
