A $600,000 partnership between School District 112 and the city of Chanhassen received council approval Monday night.

The partnership calls for the construction of a baseball/softball complex with a covered grandstand and field lights at new Chanhassen High School.

The lone dissenting vote came from councilor Vicki Ernst, who raised numerous objections that she said were based on correspondence between her and Chanhassen residents.

The dog days of summer may be approaching, but construction at Chanhassen High School is in full swing.

The annual Chaska cross country alumni fun run will take place on Friday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. at the McKnight Park shelter by Jonathan Elementary School.

There will be prizes and a BBQ afterwards for the participants.

As part of Guardian Angels Church and School’s 150th anniversary celebration, all G.A. School alumni and students are invited to their alma mater for a special celebration on Aug. 2 and 3.

Alumni are encouraged to bring mementoes of their school years, and place them on the two side altars for blessing.

The 2008 Chaska High School varsity cheerleading team participated in a recent weekend camp at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.

More than 20 high school cheer teams attended and Chaska was the proud recipient of the “Superior Team” trophy.

“The girls put in long hours of practice and learned many new stunts and cheers,” CHS cheerleading coach Sue Downs said.

Sarah Ehresman and Katie Walsh were named “All-Star” cheerleaders at the camp.

Now’s your chance to get a piece of history – circa 1978. That was when the school district purchased 150 purple band uniforms, all emblazed with “Chaska.”

There will be a storm in Victoria on July 7.

That is, the Chanhassen High School’s booster club, the “Storm Chasers,” host its inaugural fundraiser on Monday, July 7 at Deer Run Golf Club.

Lunch and driving range session begins at 11 a.m., with golf – scramble format with no handicaps – beginning at noon with a shotgun start.

A dinner, awards and silent auction is set for 6 p.m.
