The Minnesota Valley Community Band (MVCB) will perform at 7 p.m., Friday, June 27, in front of the Gazebo in City Square Park. The concert, one of a series of concerts sponsored by the city of Chaska, features music of America in keeping with the upcoming Fourth of July.
Selections from the Broadway musical Showboat: “Old Man River,” Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man,” and “Why Do I Love You,” headline the concert.
Some of the other program titles include: “The Liberty Bell” – Sousa; “The Irish Washerwoman” – Leroy Anderson; “American Overture” – Jenkins; America the Beautiful – arr. Dragon; and “The Stars and Stripes Forever.” The band is in its 22nd year with a membership of 60 players. City Square Park is located at southeast corner of Fourth Street and Highway 41 in downtown Chaska. Concertgoers are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
