Nominate an Oustanding Senior
June 19, 2008 - 1:08pm — Mark Olson
Nominations from county residents are now being sought for the 2008 Outstanding Senior Citizens of Carver County. Candidates for the award are Carver County residents over the age of 65 that are known for going out of their way to help others, to volunteer, to organize, or help out with volunteer services. The award recognizes outstanding community service and serves as an example to others in the county. The winner will be honored at the Carver County Fair in the Entertainment Center on Thursday, Aug. 7 at 2:30 p.m. The county winner will receive a special certificate of commendation from the Governor and their name will be submitted to the Minnesota Board on Aging for the Minnesota State selection process for the Outstanding Senior Citizens. The winners of the state-wide award will be announced at the Minnesota State Fair on Senior Day, the second Thursday of the fair. Official nomination forms are available on the Carver County Fair Web site: www.carvercountyfair.com/forms/senior-citizen.pdf. You may also request a form by calling Cindy Dobratz at (612) 209-1070.
The deadline for receipt of the nomination form is July 31.
