Firecracker Invitational July 5-6

The Chanhassen Lions Club will host the Inaugural Firecracker Invitational 'Big Bang' softball tournament at the Lake Ann ballfields on July 5 and 6.

The format is designed for 24 men's softball teams using USSSA guidelines.

The entry fee is $150 with the top prizes of $400, $300 and $200 in their respective brackets.

The Firecracker Invitational will also feature a kickball tournament. This year's tournament will be on Sunday only and feature a maximum of 12 teams. The entry fee is $10 and all fees will be paid out as prize money.

Two local charities will receive proceeds from the tournament. The Prop Shop on Highway 5 in Eden Prairie helps area families get back on their feet. The second charity will be the Chanhassen Legion's Veterans Monument.

“The Chan Lions have had a close relationship with the Legion and wanted to highlight the veteran's contribution to the special quality of life we all enjoy,” said Paul Palmer, past president
of the Chanhassen Lions Club. “We will have some special food items where all of the proceeds will go directly toward the monument. In addition, the Color Guard will be taking part in the national anthem on Sunday at around noon before the final playoff games begin.”

To register for softball or kickball or for more information, visit www. chanhassenlions.org to download the forms or call Palmer at (612) 834-3604.
