Explore Minnesota doesn't

Explore Minnesota doesn't appear to have a fall color update yet this year.

So here's a Chaska update: Yesterday, while walking along the west side of Lake Grace, I saw a small maple tree that had already turned red on the far side of the lake.

Perhaps it was a late summer mirage, or a Highway 41 construction sign. But I'm pretty sure it was the real deal.

Any other early signs of fall around town?

Whitey is working his (her?) way down Pine Street on the west side of downtown Chaska. Here, the albino squirrel poses heroically on a landscaping rock on Aug. 4. I had no idea that a squirrel could live this long in downtown without getting hit by a car.

Sesquicentennial season is back: Here are two 150th festivals, courtesy of Explore Minnesota:

The Holmes City 150th Celebration will be held Saturday, June 21, throughout Holmes City, with lots of great food, a grand parade, kiddie parade, beer wagon, free kayaking and pontoon rides, a vintage car and tractor display, children’s activities, live music, a flea market, dance, and fireworks over Grant Lake.

Isn't it ironic that Garnett gets traded to Boston because he can't get it done in Minnesota and now he's in the NBA Finals? Huh. Maybe he wasn't the problem afterall. Good luck to him in taking down the Lakers and getting that first championship ring. It's about time!

I enjoyed the "Taste" video Mollee - well done! It was fun to watch for familiar faces in the crowd, and I saw several. However, I did find myself becoming hungry as I watched all of the food being prepared and consumed!!
