Memorable quotes from inside

Memorable quotes from inside the park (paraphrased):
Drunk 1: "We're taking a cab"
Drunk 2: "A cab's too expensive, I'll just drive"

Meanwhile, a group of individuals from the upper deck grew unruly and started throwing paper airplanes, with one individual spitting down trying to hit the guy behind me... lucky for me the wind was in my favor at the moment.

Even when the music went

Even when the music went kaput, we were lucky enough to have a crowd of loud drunks to provide a memorable soundtrack to the show. I just hope they all got home safely...

Fireworks without

Fireworks without finale.

MiG, I agree - last year's display was one of the best I had ever seen outside of Disney World. This year's display had problems.

I tried to take a cell phone video late in the show, but there were such gaps that an entire 10-second MPEg segment would be up before anything exploded in the air. I never really figured out when the finale was.

It was tough for us Fireworks Squatters - those of us sitting (and sitting and sitting) in the Seagate and MN Montessori parking lots with prime views, but unable to hear the music or fumbled announcements had a very long night. It sounded like a very awkward procession inside the park.

I really talked this one up, too based on last year.

Canterbury hyped it up good, and they undoubtedly had the ammo. The first 1/3 of the show was spectaclular. But the show lost its timing, big time. It's too bad, because they really stand out as a July 3 show.

Went to this last night.

Went to this last night. What a disaster. First they kept us waiting for almost a half hour after the band stop playing without any kind of annoucement - just some guy tooling around in a golf cart seemingly wondering what to do.

Then they started the music but nothing seemed to go right after that. There were some sections where there was music but no fireworks. At the end they started the big finale (or at least we thought it was the finale -- they started playing Stars & Stripes Forever) and all that happened was single explosions. Halfway through the "finale" someone started playing the announcer saying "Thanks for coming we hoped you enjoyed it..." but then stopped it. Then the music finally stopped as one lone firework exploded.

People started to leave and then with no music they apparently tried to light-off some sort of finale.

It was the most bizarre fireworks display I have ever seen. After last year I had talked to a lot of people about how good the display is at Canterbury. My story changes.
